Hanford is governed by the council-manager form of government. The city council sets policy for the city and appoints a city manager to oversee day-to-day operations.
Mario Cifuentez joined the City of Hanford as the City Manager in November 2019. Mario oversees the management and operation of all City departments and services, as well as all City-wide projects. As the City Manager, Mario reports to the City Council with the responsibility of providing professional background and recommendations for the Council’s decision making and implementation of the Council’s policy direction.
Mario has over 34 years of local government experience and prior to coming to Hanford, he had overseen the operation of every City function with the exception of Public Safety. Mario holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational leadership from Fresno Pacific University.
